I’m looking forward to embarking on letterpress printing this year.
Daemen Typography class field trip, WNY Book Arts Center, hosted by WNYBAC Founder & Artistic Director Emeritus Richard Kegler.
A rare type treat for my students and I; minding our p’s-and-q’s and putting the lead in leading, literally. It was hard not to fall in love with hand set typography after this letterpress experience. Young designers need to be exposed to more tools of the trade and put away their MacBooks that are taken for granted. This experience reminded me of my offset printing days at BOCES and how much I miss it. Perhaps I should register for the letterpress classes this month so I can design and print clevermethod holiday cards for 2014. Yes!
Teaching typography at Daemen. No pressure.
